The secret is....
There is no secret. SORRY to let you down but there is no one vitamin or mineral that will make your nails instantly grow overnight. However, my nails always used to be very brittle which forced me to keep them short. Although protein is largely considered one of the sources for strong nails, I found that the more whey protein I ate, the shorter and more brittle and boy like my nails became. It wasn't until dropping whey completely that my nails went from Britney circa 2002 to BeyoncΓ© in all her Lemonade glory.
Instead of relying on whey as my main source of protein I had to get more creative. Le sigh. I started eating REAL, WHOLE foods and getting protein from nuts, legumes, and tofu. In addition to the naturally occurring protein found in these foods I reaped other benefits like biotin, iron, and zinc.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
A diet full of nutrients creates healthy nails. Incorporate a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, and nuts into your diet. Switch from whey to a plant based protein. Your nails will thank you and your nail technicians will envy you.
